Organized Group Training Study Program

This year we are excited to announce our new and improved Organized Group Training and Study Program.  During our first few years of this school we have learned a lot of great things from the groups that attended and we are pleased with the modification we have made to our program.  We believe this is the best program of its kind and we are honored that you are interested in joining us this year.

This will be an exciting time for the organized groups that attend.  It is a time of learning that is geared directly to the needs and training of organized groups.  This is a time of hands-on training that will allow the groups to put into action what they have learned during their time at the school.  Each day there will be two group performance training classes. 

Areas of performance will include:

  • Mic Technique
  • Staging and Layout
  • Best Layout of Your Program
  • many other items of information
  • This program is constructed to motivate the groups that attend to better quality, knowledge and performance for all members.  We gear our program to enhancing the performance of the whole group.  This is a great time of growth for all involved.

    Vocal Study Program

    The very best in vocal training will be yours at the Steve Hurst School of Vocal Study Program.  Daily vocal instruction will create a desire for singers to reach their greatest potential.  All of this will occur in an environment that fosters a heart for ministry.  Students will practice what they learn during the week as they participate in worship experiences, choral technique series, individual solo concert settings and classroom situations.

    Over twenty of the nation’s best vocal coaches are developing new and exciting curriculum to challenge each student.  Whether you are 10 or in your 70’s you will find new and useful information that will increase your ministry.  We are thrilled about the changes geared to the new students as well as those who have attended before.

  • How to Minister - Not Just Sing
  • Improving Your Vocal Health

  • Leaders in specific areas of Gospel Music will be sharing their valuable knowledge along with practical applications to assist you in expanding your ministry.  There is no other place where you can talk one-on-one with the leaders in the gospel music industry.  They are open and willing to help, answer questions, and give assistance to the students that attend.

    Along with the knowlege you will gain from our staff, other noted teachers and leaders will share their knowledge during these classes and seminars. 

    This will be a time you will learn ideas and techniques that will change your ministry for a lifetime.

    Piano Study Program

    We are excited to announce our restructured Piano Training Study Program. Over the last few years the students in this study program have given us several ideas and suggestions for modifications to the program. We believe that these suggestions have helped to make are Piano Training Study Program a one of a kind program that will enhance the music ministry of each student.

    This is a time of learning that is geared around the ability and the training of each student. During an average day in the Piano Training Study Program the students will attend two organized classes that will deal with the such topics as:

    • Taking Control of the Piano

    • The Cure for the Common Offertory

    • How to Become a Great Accompanist

    • The Art of Knowing When and How Much to Play

    • Blending Traditional and Contemporary

    • Art of Playing Ear

    • Different Styles of Playing - Fills, Runs, Licks and Turnarounds

    • How to Arrange a Song and Make It Yours

    • plus much more

    Included in the tuition will be five (5) 45-minute lessons with some of the best teachers and artists in the business today. An additional set of three (3) 45-minute lessons can be purchased if desired.

    We are working diligently to make this a rewarding program for all the students that attend.

    Songwriting Study Program

    Our staff has developed an excellent Songwriting Study Program.  More and more people are looking for quality curriculum that can teach them how to develop their abilities to touch hearts through their music.  We are trying to meet this demand by forming an internationally recognized program.

    This program is constructed to cultivate the talents of all levels of songwriters in all styles of music.  This program gives students the tools they need for enhancing the crafting of a song and learning about the business of music.  Our program is unique in that it is one of the only personalized programs in the United States which allows the student one-on-one instruction.  A team of the country’s top writers has created a syllabus of knowledge that can be used to launch many effective careers. 

    This study program will include:

  • Proper Songwriting Form
  • Lyric Development
  • Publishing
  • Copyrights and Royalties
  • Producing Quality Demos
  • Creating Original Melody Lines
  • Theory for the Songwriter
  • Daily Songwriting Sessions
  • Stylistic Writing That Attracts the Singer
  • Developing a Concept
  • Melodic Development and Music Charting
  • You will gain knowledge from wonderful teachers and leaders who will direct you musically into a new avenue of ministry.  You will learn from great teachers who are tops in their field.  This program will change your writing forever.

    Our Songwriters Showcase climaxes the week.  Some of the students included in this program will perform the music that they have perfected during the week.

    Sound Study Program

    We are thrilled to offer our newest program that began in 2003.  Our Sound Study Program offers many exciting opportunities for you to further your knowledge in all areas of sound, regardless of your needs.

    Whether you are a beginner or at an advanced level, our staff can assist you by answering questions, giving you resources or showing you hands-on demonstrations.

    Classes will include various areas of:

  • Live Sound
  • Reinforcement and Basic Studio Recording
  • Topics may include:

  • System Design and Setup
  • Repair and Troubleshooting
  • Microphone Types and Applications
  • Speaker Selection and Placement
  • Cable Types and Signal Flow
  • You will also have the opportunity to have question and answer sessions with our staff, whether in a group setting or one-on-one.

    The members of our staff hold numerous industry credits, Engineering degrees and certification.

    If you need consulting, system design or installation, our staff has the answers for you.
